E-cinema Start confirms fact of user data leak, bank info safe

MOSCOW, Aug 29 (PRIME) -- Online cinema Start, half-owned by Russian mobile operator MegaFon, has confirmed reports about a leak of phone numbers and e-mails of part of its users, while banking data were not compromised, the service said on August 28 on Telegram.

“We have already improved the vulnerability, and access to our data is closed…The base is of no huge interest to perpetrators, the most valuable thing there are e-mails or phone numbers the user exploited to log in. The base does not contain passwords openly or the history of views, and the most important thing is that it did not and cannot have data of banking cards or other financial information,” Start said.

The exposed information is not “fully relevant” and dates back to 2021, the company added.
